The Torah considers an individual’s appearance to be a reflection of his/her sense of קדושה and צלם אלוקים. The dress code reflects BMA’s commitment to the values of צניעות (personal modesty) and כבוד הבריות (respect for human beings). In addition, students’ dress contributes in large measure to the atmosphere in our school. In keeping with halacha and contributing positively to the atmosphere on campus, please use discretion when choosing clothing, hairstyles and jewelry for your child(ren).
Dress Code Guidelines for All Students (K-8 Grade):
TOPS: Students are required to wear polo shirts with the BMA logo (colors: Light Blue, Navy Blue, White and Pink). The shirts can be purchased anywhere (most popular places are Target, GAP, Old Navy, Children’s Place or Kohl’s.) Once purchased, shirts should be brought to a local vendor to screen print the BMA logo onto the polos. (For convenience, we suggest using BMA Business Sponsor CustomIT. To purchase polos with the logo already embroidered, see Lands’ End information below). All students are required to have a dress code polo shirt underneath their hoodie/sweatshirt should they choose to wear one.
SWEATSHIRTS: All BMA sweatshirts are accepted. Additionally, solid navy or gray sweatshirts (pullover and zip-up) without any logo are allowed. BMA Sweatshirts can also be purchased from PTA Spirit Wear Site. Bar/Bat Mitzvah hoodies/sweatshirts are NOT permitted.
FOOTWEAR: Sneakers or flat shoes are permissible. Slippers, clogs, sandals, pool shoes, flip-flops, open toe, Crocs, or “Heelys” may not be worn in school. Shoes must be closed in front and back.
HATS: Hats may not be worn in school.
SOCKS: Must be worn at all times.

For girls in Kindergarten-2nd grade, polo dresses (same color as the polo shirts) or jumpers (in navy or khaki) are allowed as long as they have the BMA logo and are to the knee. Land’s End also has an approved plaid option for skirts as well. Please note maxi, a-line and flairy designs are permitted. Pencil and denim skirts are not permitted.
PANTS: Pants may not be worn during school hours, except during approved athletic activities. Leggings under appropriate length skirts are permitted.
